What is (a) revelation?

a direct or personal communication from God to an individual or group of believers. Often it is a divine disclosure of spiritual knowledge, truth, or insight that is not typically attained through ordinary human understanding or reasoning. 

Examples Of Revelation

Divine Communication 

A revelation is understood as God’s communication with humanity. It can take various forms, including dreams, visions, audible voices, inner promptings, or an overwhelming sense of understanding. 

Spiritual Knowledge 

Revelations can impart spiritual knowledge, wisdom, or insights that go beyond what is found in the Bible or ordinary religious teachings. They may reveal specific truths about God, His will, or His plans. 

Personal Guidance

Confirmation of Faith

In Christianity, revelations are evaluated in light of biblical teachings. If a revelation contradicts the Bible or its core principles, it is typically considered suspect. 

Private and Public Revelations 

Some revelations are private and intended for the individual believer’s personal growth and understanding. Others are considered public revelations that may be shared with a broader audience.
